Cala Martina e Cala Violina
Situated between Follonica and Punta Ala, these charming coves, immersed in the wonderful unspoiled nature of the Riserva Naturale delle Bandite di Scarlino, can only be reached on foot through a path surrounded by Mediterranean scrub, without depriving you of the sea view. The picturesque landscapes will accompany your adventure to an unspoiled paradise.
Cala Martina is well known for being the beach from which Garibaldi departed, fleeing from the soldiers of the Papal States and continuing his journey for the unification of Italy. Besides its history, this cove is renowned for its sea, in this small stretch of coast covered with gravel, it is a beautiful transparent green. There are no kiosks or structures to preserve the wild nature of the place.
Cala Violina, named after the sounds the sand emits when stepped on, similar to those of a violin, is considered the "big sister" of Cala Martina. It is a small cove nestled between two promontories, characterized by white sand and some of the cleanest and clearest waters in the Maremma region.
